The building, on the edge of the Poblenou district and home to the headquarters of the international law firm Cuatrecasas, had to achieve gold certification under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) programme. This certification is the international benchmark for the construction of sustainable and high-performance buildings.
With the simultaneous aim of maintaining privacy, ensuring effective solar shading and achieving the right light quality for the building's administrative functions, the Screen Nature fabric played a central role in both the technical and environmental domains.
With the aim of achieving energy savings of up to 30% compared to traditional high-rise buildings, GCA Architects designed a 28,000m² space for around 1,000 people. It stands out for its:
- Pure and minimalist glass facades, which are in line with the architectural criteria of the district;
- Two towers of 10 and 17 storeys, reaching a height of 72 metres;
- A three-storey glass atrium linking the towers and allowing natural light to enter the building.
... We had to achieve LEED Gold certification: the materials chosen had to have zero or low environmental impact. Source, composition... Mermet's Screen Nature fabric met all the environmental and technical specifications in terms of openness, allowing natural light into the building...
