Processing
General rules:
- Cutting: cold knife, crush cut or ultrasonic.
- Welding: Thermal, high frequency, ultrasonic, sewing.
- Cleaning: Remove dust, clean with a sponge soaked in soapy water, rinse with clean water.
Specific recommendations apply to some fabrics. Details can be found in the brochures available in the "Downloads" section.
Handling recommendations
To facilitate the handling of large widths of fabric and to avoid marks on the fabric, Mermet recommends that the panel(s) be rolled on a tube at each stage of the assembly process.
For fabrics with a white acrylic coating on one side, it is recommended that they are handled on a clean, dry and dust-free surface.
As with all metallised fabrics, cotton gloves should be worn during assembly to prevent fingerprints on the metal side.
Care instructions
The following care instructions apply to all fabrics:
- Handle the fabric with care: clean and dry hands, use of gloves recommended.
- Do not scrub.
- Do not use solvents or abrasive substances that may damage the fabric coating.
- Therefore, when cleaning windows, etc., the blind must be raised in order to avoid any direct or indirect spraying or splashing of chemicals onto the fabric.
Storage conditions
The fabric should always be kept in its original outer packaging (plastic film, cardboard tube) during storage and/or handling. It is better to place the rolls of fabric in individual cardboard tubes.
The rolls should be stored horizontally, not stacked, in a place where the temperature and humidity are as constant as possible. Prolonged storage at high temperatures (> 45°C) may cause fading of the colours.
Use a transportation aid when moving rolls. Do not lift rolls by the ends to avoid creasing and bending the fabric. The fabric should never be folded. For long term storage it is strongly recommended that the rolls are not stacked.
5 year warranty
Most solar shading fabrics in the Mermet collection are covered by a five-year guarantee. This guarantee is valid only under normal conditions of use and maintenance of the fabrics, as described in the technical specifications and in accordance with Mermet’s maintenance recommendations in the catalogue.
